About Bruns Tract
MPF acquired the Bruns Tract in 2001. This property is a 160-acre prairie planting, converted from a crop field under the Conservation Reserve Program’s Conservation Practice 25: Restoration and Management of a Declining Habitat. The Bruns Tract is located within the Cole Camp Prairies Conservation Opportunity Area and the Cole Camp Important Bird Area in Pettis County and lies between two properties managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). Bruns is a stop along the Great Missouri Birding Trail and is managed by MDC in partnership with MPF.
This native grassland has been shown to support a sizable number of grassland birds. In 2015, of all grasslands surveyed in Missouri by the Missouri River Bird Observatory, Bruns Tract had the highest density of Henslow’s sparrows.
Bruns Tract is open to the public for hiking, nature viewing, and hunting. State hunting regulations apply.

Directions
The Bruns Tract is located in Pettis County near Green Ridge on Hope Dale Road, about 10 miles southwest of Sedalia. From the intersection of Highway 65 and State Highway B in Sedalia, take State Highway B 14.6 miles to Hope Dale Road, which is 3 miles west of the town of Green Ridge. Turn left (south) onto Hope Dale Road and proceed 0.2 miles to the parking area on the left. By GPS, N38 37.047 W93 28.055 (in decimal degrees, 38.61745 -93.46759).
