Join MPF Board Member Vernon Elsberry and a small group of fellow learners for a Native Seed Winter Sowing Workshop at his property in Warrensburg, MO on Saturday, January 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants will sow seeds collected from the City of Warrensburg’s Turkeyfoot Prairie garden into custom blends of topsoil, sand, and compost, and learn about overwintering care in the comfort of Vernon’s heated workshop. Participants may bring native seed they have collected, too, if they wish. Vernon will grill meat and vegetable kabobs for the group. Participants are asked to bring their own empty planting containers (preferably used and/or upcycled ones) and their own drinks. Some extra planting containers will be available on site. At the end of the event, participants will take their plantings home and leave them outside to endure natural winter conditions until they come up in the spring.
Please register below by Monday, January 6, 2025. Information about driving directions and other useful details will be sent to registrants a few days before the event.
Cost: Free; optional donation of any amount to MPF.
