Missouri Prairie Foundation Statement on Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Missouri Prairie Foundation (MPF) embraces the many benefits of evolving technology in pursuit of natural resource conservation and the advancement of knowledge. MPF also recognizes its responsibility as a scientific organization to share information for scientists, conservation professionals, and the general public that is trustworthy, accurate, and evidence-based.

In all of its communications, publications, reports, prairie stewardship planning, biological surveys, and any other kind of conservation activity or documentation, including text and graphics, MPF relies on information compiled by people, not generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). MPF uses information from first-hand human observations of the natural world (including photography), peer-reviewed scientific publications, and communications with people.

MPF recognizes the potentially useful applications of AI in the pursuit of natural resource conservation, and should MPF ever use AI for data modeling, analysis, interpretation, and/or visualization, document text, illustrations, or graphics, or in any other areas of its work, MPF will clearly acknowledge the use of AI tools.
